Sparrowhawk
Yes i know the picture doesn't do it justice but it was took from my window so i wont complain. So i woke up one morning to see a male sparrowhawk, outside my window on the willow tree. It was eating something but unfortunately i couldn't see what however, since i took this photo iv'e seen it at the same spot a few times so one day i might get to see even more of this stunning creature!
Truly stunning!
I found this a few years back just on the floor it was still allive however im pretty sure it was dying, such a beautiful creature the stunning brown and green pigmentation on its back and the intricate detailing of its wings. what a find!
Finding the illusive
seldom seen by the general public the beautiful and almost iconic sight of a deer is one i treaure everytime it happens.
so how do you get close to thes beautiful animals? well they are built for speed and agility so chasing them is a non starter you have to remember they have been hunted for thousands of years by humans and other predators. They have an incredible sense of smell and hearing so the key is stay quiet, keep the wind in your face and be vigilant, slow your self down and become one with your surroundings. You need to notice the small details they leave behind and use the land to your advantage. then you have become a tracker!
please watch this video to see me tracking the deer in the photo above: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY-m6tC2WTw
